Well, needless to say, all of that coursework I was aiming to finish tonight was shamelessly ignored. :) This is brilliant, I am so blown away! I could have left a comment for every chapter, but I was way too impatient to carry on. I love how cinematic this whole read is -- you are so good at casting the most interesting bits in sharp relief while letting the minor details play out in the shadows... still discernible, but not distracting. Subtle. (The most striking example of this for me was when Sherlock finally witnessed one of John's nightmares... The way you described that whole scene -- especially when John was screaming in his ear but you didn't write what in particular his was saying. The rush, silence, smoke, pain -- no definition given to words or sounds particularly, suits shuffling in -- all of the sharp emotions in the aftermath and just muddled chaos during the muddled chaos.) And your characterizations are PERFECT. <-- I cannot blather on about that enough. So impressed.
I need to read more of this ASAP. and in conclusion, fuck Mycroft, Moriarty, and I hope Seb gets what's coming to him. :D (OK, I have to be honest -- I didn't make the connection between 'Seb' and 'Sebastian' until just last chapter or whatever-- this happens to me all the time. I've known Sebs and Sebastians but never a Sebastian nicknamed Seb. In my own defense, I have a mental block separating those two names possibly forever., and while I see now that there were other tip-offs, I was SO struck from left field when he turned out to be a traitor! Although I still figured it out before John, the poor schmuck. ;) When he first talked about Harry and "The Farm" to him, I figured he was not a good guy, but I thought it was more a situation of "Should have chosen the BLUE pill" until he started talking about keeping it all hush-hush. Heheh :) Which, imho, he should have told Sherlock anyways. Not like that man's rule prone himself, and he would have helped him save her somehow!! Although I guess John is going through an emotional rough patch.
Sometimes I think I'm not mystery-minded enough to follow Sherlock Holmes stories, but I still find them endlessly intriguing. And hot. I was literally holding my breath and laughing out loud at various points through the story so far. I cannot wait for Sherlock and John's reunion. :D
I could go on forever. I love you. (I sincerely apologize for the length of this comment. ;)
